Great Faith

January 2, 2026

Scripture Reference: Exodus 2

As this New Year begins, many of us find ourselves reassessing how we can grow. How can we do better this year? How can we draw closer to God? How can we become better friends, wives, mothers, or sisters? Sometimes the greatest change begins with a single step. We may not have a fully developed plan. We may not know how everything will unfold. But faith often starts before clarity arrives.

Faith often starts before clarity arrives.”

Think of Jochebed, the mother of Moses. For three months she held him close—nursing him, protecting him, kissing his sweet little face—knowing all along that Pharaoh wanted him dead. Moses must have been a quiet, good‑natured baby, but even so, the day came when she could no longer hide him. She had to take a step of faith.

She began to make the basket—pulling the papyrus reeds in and out, weaving them carefully, likely wiping away a tear or two as she worked. She knew exactly what she was preparing: a vessel for her baby… a basket she would release into the unknown. Then she smeared the sticky tar and pitch over the reeds. She had done this kind of work many times before, but this time was different. This time, her most prized and beloved treasure would be placed inside… and released. Faith forward.

The day finally came. She nursed Moses, held him close, and prayed over the path his life would take. With tears streaming down her face, she swaddled the baby, reached for the papyrus basket, and walked toward the Nile, knowing Pharaoh’s daughter would soon arrive for her bath. Jochebed had watched her routine day after day—studying her movements, observing her nature—yet still not truly knowing her.

She placed her most prized possession into the basket and released it into the Nile, watching for a few moments as it drifted gently, the soft rocking motion soothing the baby to sleep. Miriam, Moses’s older sister, no doubt witnessed the quiet strength and unwavering faith her mother displayed. Lessons were being taught that day—not through speeches, instructions, or empty words, but through a living example of what great faith truly looks like.

Miriam knew the careful instructions her mother had given her.

And Jochebed turned and walked away—trusting Jehovah, her Provider, and choosing Great Faith.

On this first week of January 2026, I challenge you to ask yourself the same question I’m asking myself: “what do I need to release to God with great faith… Faith Forward?” Most of us already know the answer, but we’re often too afraid to even pick up the papyrus reeds and begin weaving the basket. My friend, I invite you to join me. You may not have a fully developed plan. You may not know the outcome you’re hoping for. But I can assure you of this: the results God provides will always be greater than anything we could produce or imagine on our own.

I don’t know where Following Titus 2 will take us this year. For the past couple of years, it has been resting… but rest isn’t bad. Waiting is never wasted. God often does His deepest work in seasons where nothing seems to be moving. I don’t know the full plan for the year—I’m simply stepping out in faith, and I invite you to step with me.

Ask yourself: “What do I need great faith to release to God today?”

 With love and faith forward,

Gena
